Flourishing Threads
Sustainable Boutique Storefront Branding, Outdoor, and Poster Series
Mission
Develop a brand campaign for a sustainable boutique meant to bring attention to the harmful effects of the fast fashion industry.
Research and Process
The idea for this project sparked from my interest in sustainability, secondhand shopping, and the lack of sustainable practices in the fashion industry. It was initially part of a “sprint” project through which the poster series and preliminary logos were developed, and was revisited later as a 7-week deep dive into the project. The beginning stages of the project involved research about the fast fashion industry and extensive interviewing of potential users for a boutique that uses sustainable practices and sells second-hand goods. The purpose of the boutique was to create an elevated experience for young audiences while shopping for goods that were fair trade, sustainably made, local, and some secondhand. Because this project started with a poster series, I developed the rest of the project around that series, informing the messaging, logos, patterns, and textures. The textile textures were a main part of this brand campaign and are all scans of clothing that I thrifted myself. The brand colors were also pulled from these textiles.
Outcomes
An integrated brand campaign for a sustainable boutique storefront that includes logos, packaging, wayfinding, out-of-home, digital, and print experiences.
Personal Reflection
This was a fun project to work on, as I felt personally driven by the mission of a sustainable boutique. I enjoyed starting with the promotional element and further developing a brand by revisiting brand elements and promotional channels as part of the 7-week deep dive. This project taught me about many elements of a brand identity and how to apply them in creative ways without becoming repetitive.
