Research and Process

This project was all hands on deck! I worked with 3 other designers, and to start, we designed sitemaps of the current SC HLOC website and dashboard. This allowed us to pick out all of the information on the site and visually see the information mapped out in a way that depicted the journey the user had to take through the original website and dashboard. 

 

From here, we created a potential new sitemap for both the dashboard and website, and after a visit to TrueMatter UX design agency in Columbia, SC, we were able to take what we learned and revise our sitemaps from there. My role in the project primarily focused on site mapping while two other members worked on new wireframes. After many revisions, we developed two sitemaps, both highlighting the changes that we made and mockups of a new website and dashboard. We then presented this work to our client and were recognized at the South Carolina State House for outstanding work on this project.

Personal Reflection

This was one of the most difficult yet rewarding projects that I completed in college. It was one of my first introductions to creating sitemaps which was one of the most important parts of this project. It is not the “pretty” part of design, but rather one of the most important parts of UX/UI design. I worked closely with one of my group members and we took a lot of time to discern and sort through information and in the end we were able to clearly articulate the changes that we made. I am very proud of the work we did as well as how my other two group members were able to take the sitemaps and create beautiful wireframes. Presenting this project and seeing the positive responses of all of the committee members was a highlight and being recognized at the SC State House was the cherry on top!
