Print and Digital Promotional Designs for the USC School of Visual Art and Design

Mission

Design flyers, posters, and other promotional items for USC’s School of  Visual Art and Design lectures, visiting artists, and community events.

Research and Process

Although many of these materials are different, my design process starts the same way. After I found out which event I would be creating the promotional package for, I took time to research and specifically look for interesting typefaces, type treatments, and image arrangements. After I gathered inspiration, I sketched my ideas for each graphic and jumped into InDesign to create it digitally. There typically weren't many restraints for the aesthetic of the designs, which gave me creative freedom to experiment while keeping an academic feel. Because of this creative freedom, it was a goal of mine to dive deeper into research, sketching, and using typography in interesting and experimental ways. Most of these designs targeted the School of Visual Art and Design student body, so the main goal was to create something that would catch their eyes through various media channels.

Outcomes

A variety of print and digital promotional graphics for the School of Visual Art and Design social media, Mailchimp, digital platforms, and print advertisements.

Personal Reflection

These were some of my favorite projects to complete during my time as the School of Visual Art and Design Graphic Design Intern because I had creative freedom. I was able to push myself out of my comfort zone by using different typefaces and colors to create bold graphics. I also enjoyed the opportunity to work in both digital and print channels.
